February in the Library training room in DIT Aungier Street. Part of the DSRH Research Workshop Series these seminars will be a
practical demonstration of how to mazimize your use of the Scopus database.

Scopus adds CIteScore metrics to it's database
Scopus has just added
CiteScore™ metrics to it's resource.
The CiteScore advantages are:
- Comprehensive.
CiteScore metrics are calculated using Scopus data for over 22,000 serial titles ― peer-reviewed journals, book series, conference proceedings and trade journals ― in 330 disciplines - Transparent. Using Scopus data, CiteScore metrics calculations are straightforward and easy to replicate.
- Current. CiteScore Tracker shows how the current year’s CiteScore builds up each month.
- Free. Anyone can access serial-level metrics functionality on Scopus and download the complete CiteScore metrics data from JournalMetrics.Scopus.com without cost.

Arrow Readership Maps are live
ARROW, DIT's Institutional Repository is a useful resource for students and researchers. It's a database of publications and research outputs by staff and students of
DIT. All material is free to download provided it is
attributed to the author and is for non-commercial use.
A new feature is now available called live readership maps. These show, in real time, which items are being downloaded and in what part of the world. You can look at the general readership map for Arrow here or more specifically view the College of Sciences and Health map.
There is also a very helpful Research Smarts section which includes bibliometrics FAQS as well as assistance on how to upload/add material to Arrow.

ORCHID and SCOPUS : organize your research profile
When
your research activities happen across multiple sources, it can be a challenge
to organize and distinguish your work from that of others. The solution?
Establish an ORCID record so you can better manage this challenge. ORCID.org, a
non-profit community-driven organization, offers a transparent way for you to
link your research activities and outputs to one unique identifier. Through a
partnership between Scopus and ORCID.org, you can connect your Scopus author ID
and publication records with your ORCID identifier. Once the two IDs are
linked, visitors to your Scopus Author Profile page can click on your ORCID
number to access your complete author record in ORCID. Click here to review and send your Scopus Author details
to ORCID.

Altmetric for SCOPUS
Altmetric for Scopus is a powerful 3rd party web application that
runs within the new DIT Library database Scopus . It appears in the sidebar of the article and abstract pages. It's a
quick and easy way to see all of the social or mainstream media mentions
gathered
for a particular paper as well as reader counts on popular reference
managers.
The Altmetric application is currently installed for all Scopus users by default but will only appear in the sidebar when there is data available for the article that you're currently viewing. You can find it underneath the "Related Documents" box on the right hand side of the screen.
It cleans up this data, enriches it and then allows authors, readers and researchers to see it in context.
Though not every article is discussed in public online Altmetric tracks over a hundred thousand mentions a week. Well worth a look alongside the regular bibliometric SCOPUS functionality.

How to find a journal's impact factor
There have been quite a few queries at the info desk this week about how to find a journal's impact factor. The fastest way to do this is to use the Web of Science database via the DIT Library website. Once in the WoS database click on the Journal Citation Reports tab and search by journal title (not the article title!) to obtain either the Impact factor or the Eigenfactor.
