1. Title: Tips to save hundreds of hours writing research papers (using EndNote)

Web of Science and Endnote seminar Tuesday 20th March at 9.30am. All welcome

Using Web of Science for an undergrad assignment or postgrad literature review? Need help with Endnote?  DIT Library Services invites you to a Training Seminar from Clarivate Analytics on:

Web of Science: consists of several databases designed to support scientific and scholarly research. Web of Science Core Collection is our premier resource on the platform and includes over 20,000 peer-reviewed, high-quality scholarly journals published worldwide (including Open Access journals)

Journal Citation Reports (JCR): offers a systematic, objective means to critically evaluate the world's leading journals, with quantifiable, statistical information based on citation data. Over 11,000 titles from the Science Citation Index-Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index  in JCR.

Endnote Online:
EndNote is reference management software with features to
  • Keep all your references and reference-related materials in a searchable personal library.
  • Synchronize your references between up to three of your personal computers, an online library, and your iPad, through EndNote sync. (You must be the owner and user of all three computers.)
  • Share your references with collaborators through EndNote sync.
  • Use your references in word-processing documents to create formatted citations and bibliographies or independent reference lists.

Endnote tutorials now available

Need help with EndnoteBasic for an assignment or final year project? Getting started with referencing using EndnoteBasic tutorials are available on Thursday mornings either from 10-11am or 11-12pm for the next few weeks.

Interested? Contact kst.library@dit.ie or julie.defoubert@dit.ie to book a session.

All you need to bring is your laptop and have your DIT network passwords handy. It's also helpful, but not essential to know your module's recommended referencing / citation style  e.g. Harvard, RSC, IEEE, Numeric etc.

Alternatively have a look at  DIT Library's EndnoteBasic information.

Need help with referencing and citing or using Endnote for a project?

If you're in the middle of a final year (or any year) project or dissertation and want some assistance getting started with EndnoteBasic citation freeware or just using a citing and referencing style in general we can help. Contact us at kst.library@dit.ie and a member of staff will get back to you re. a tutorial time in one of the Library study rooms. If possible bring a laptop and check you know your recommended citation style e.g. Harvard, Numeric, RSC, IEEE etc.  Not the only one who needs help?  Bring a friend!

Endnote Web user guide

An updated guide to Endnote Web is now available to download from the Library website.  The guide includes help in areas such as:

  • Setting Up an Endnote Web Account
  • Manually adding References
  • Importing References from a Database into Endnote Web: Direct Export Databases
  • Importing References from Text Files
  • Inserting References into a Word Document
  • Editing a Citation in Word
  • Printing a Standalone Bibliography

Endnote etutorials and updates

Getting started information for Endnote X2 and X3 versions is available on the library website.The X2 etutorial addresses transfering references from databases and use with Word 2007. If you're new to reference management software try the EndnoteWeb freeware first before using the subscription software. For faqs, webinars and demos re Endnote and Endnote see also the Adept Scientifc website.
