Welcome back to the new semester. Here are the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions of library services.

You will need to be a registered student and have a valid student card. Your student card is your library card. Bring the books or other material you would like to borrow to the library desk. We will scan your card and issue the items to you.

How many items may I borrow and for how long?

The lending periods for items borrowed from the library are as follows:
  • Undergraduates: 6 items for 14 days
  • Undergraduate part-time: 6 items for 14 days
  • Postgraduates (taught): 10 items for 28 days
  • Postgraduates (research): 10 items for 90 days
  • Postgraduate: part-time: 10 items for 28 days
  • External readers: 2 items for 14 days

Can i renew a book I have borrowed?

Yes, as long as no one has placed a hold on the book you can extend the period of the loan. Books may be renewed once only. To renew a book log in to your MyLibrary Account on the library homepage, dit.ie/library, using your student number and library PIN . Click on the renew all button and your loan(s) will be renewed.

Can i keep track of items I have borrowed?

Go to the library homepage (dit.ie/library) and click on login to MyLibrary Account. Type in your student/staff number in the field provided. Leave the enter your PIN field blank and click submit. At the next screen create your own PIN by typing in a four digit number of your choice.Your library account will enable you to see what items you have borrowed and when they are due to be returned. You can also renew items as explained above.

How do I search for a book,a journal or other resources?

Your first port of call should be the OPAC or library catalogue.. Using the drop down menu you can search for items held in the library by title, subject, author and using keywords.
