August Public Holiday Weekend Opening Hours

Kevin St Library will be closed on Monday 6th August for the holiday weekend.

Summer opening hours continue from Tuesday 7th August:

  • Monday-Friday: 9.30-17.15
  • Saturday: Closed

Databases: new off campus access system

Off campus access to the DIT full text subject databases has been streamlined this month .

You will now be prompted by either of two pages:
  • 19 databases open on the DIT IS Services screen. This requires the username and password used for DIT email or active directory access. Databases includes ACM, IEEE & Web of Knowledge.
  •  57 databases continue to use DIT Library's own authentication page. This page requires the user to have a Library PIN and a current DIT ID number to access the databases. These databases include Engineering Village and Science Direct.

ACM Digital Library database training

ACM DL Training Sessions will take place at the following times:

July 24, 2012 from 1:00pm to 1:30pm
ACM Introduction:
This A20-30 minute presentation is designed to give an overview of the ACM Digital Library. It will highlight the key full text Computer Science publications and Analytic tools that are included in the database. 

Use your microphone and speakers - a headset is recommended.

Off Campus Access to Science Databases: ACM and IEEE Xplore

Off campus access to the ACM, IEEE Xplore and Web of Knowledge databases now just requires your DIT username and password - as for DIT email and MyDIT accounts.

Athens passwords are no longer required and accounts that expire on 31st August 2012 will not be renewed. Access is now via Edugate,

Science in the City

The Science in the City festival kicks off this weekend featuring everything from Dara O'Briain to the Higgs Bosun particle. The 10 day festival is being held to celebrate Dublin hosting Europe’s largest science event, the Euroscience Open Forum, which takes place in the Dublin Convention Centre from 11th July – 15th July.
